I'm looking for suggestions for a tuna jigging rod in this class as I already have a Black Hole Cape Cod Special in 80 and 250g's.You are right, for popping you want the 18000 for the faster retrieve. I started out using a 20k as "double duty" and the extra line capacity. I was SHOCKED when I actually got an 18k. The difference was night and day. As for line capacity, the 18k spool holds 350yds of JB 100 hollowcore. The 20k holds 400yds.I would fish #80 to #100 Braid on the popping rod with #130 or #100 Fluor leader. If you hook into a nice Cubera you will need it, and the fish don't seem to mind the heavier leader. For the big tunas at Hannible I go also go #80 to #100 PE line with a 25' wind on leader say #80 to #100.The reel comes with 3 handles and the power handle is perfect for slow-jigging. You can also set it a 3 different lengths. I use the middle one, I think 85mm. The longets one is 95 I believe. The reel has a good drag, stated at 12 kg. In real life it sure has more drag than the Slatiga star drag 10 and 15.360Tuna. 710 likes. Sport fishing and jigging community4075 posts · Joined 2009. #1 · Apr 28, 2013. What line capacities are you guys finding on the new Stellas ? I have a 14K that seems to hold under 250 yards of #100 Daiwa BB - that's a little less than I anticipated. I personally think Talica 25II is out of it's league with 400lb class fish in the mix, Talica 50II is probably the next logical choice if you're going with Shimano. Otherwise, the Makaira 20/30 are your best bet. Makaira 20 is same height as 30, but narrower version.Jul 31, 2563 BE ... Epic morning getting a father and son on a fish of a lifetime. The mainline loop is a critical part of a loop to loop connection system. Done correctly, the mainline loop is a line-doubler. A well chosen line-doubler reduces the tension of the in the loop by half, with no loss of strength (e.g. if the mainline tension is 40 lbs., the tension in the line inside the loop, is only 20 lbs--almost magic)..
