In either case, put gas pressure sensor right next to bottom left corner of the gas pump, so it only turns on if pressure is >=500g. Otherwise you're wasting power. Filtration matters. Wrong gas will break your gas generator. Low tech solution: Gas filter for simple, safe but energy hungry filtration.

It's a much better idea to use hot salt water geysers and Cool Steam Vents for oxygen generation as the resulting gases are both much less heat dense upon conversion and also therefore much easier to cool afterwards. You can still process the salt water if you wish to get rid of it at about 50 degrees Celsius and send it to desalination ...
